OFTEC Registered Heating

Oftec AccreditedOFTEC was formed in 1991 and replaced the former Domestic Oil Burner Equipment Testing Association (DOBETA). Originally it was formed to write new technical standards and training manuals but has now expanded to promoting the oil-fired heating and cooling sector through a trade association. It developed a competent person scheme in 2002 and now offers scopes of registration for heating technicians and all organisations working with solid fuels and renewable technologies.

Robinsons Facilities Services, as one of the most accredited companies in Yorkshire have recognised the importance of establishing safer working practices with regard to the servicing of oil-fired commercial heating equipment and hence sought to secure a status as a registered commercial heating business under the OFTEC scheme. To become registered all our technicians needed to undertake an approved training course and assessment, to become OFTEC accredited engineers. We are inspected regularly by OFTEC as an organisation, as are our individual technicians, which maintain our standards across the organisation. Our induction training for new employees includes reviewing if engineers possess any OFTEC training, and factoring any gaps into their training and development plan.

We have many years experience of working with oil-fired heating systems and increasingly are seeing customers moving towards renewable technologies, so the OFTEC accreditation is crucial in Robinsons Facilities Services maintaining our position as a leading contractor in this ever-changing industry sector.
